Abstract

This Qualitative study explored the inhibitors to using Moodle e-learning platform by Faculty members at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, during COVID-19 Pandemic. The study adopted a Case study research design, and seven participants were purposively selected for the study. The semi-structured interview was used to collect data for the study. The study revealed two major inhibitors to the use of Moodle e-learning platform by faculty members in the Faculty of Education, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, including Institutional Inhibitors and Personal Inhibitors. The study further revealed that Institutional inhibitors comprised of issues related to the problem of Accessibility and lack of technical support, while personal inhibitors comprised of the attitude of faculty members towards the use of the Platform and lack of awareness. To this end, the study recommended that the Management of the University should post two technical support staff from the Institute of Computing and Information and communication technology (ICICT) to be stationed in the faculty digital centre to cater to technical problems that faculty members might encounter in the use of Moodle e-learning platform. The University should also institute a policy requiring Lecturers to use the Moodle e-learning platform as a requirement for their promotion.
